Cablevision workers rallied outside Madison Square Garden on Monday for union representation.
About 70 percent of the 285 Brooklyn-based workers have signed cards to be represented by the Communications Workers of America.
Technicians and elected officials are accusing the cable provider of union-busting and intimidation tactics to keep employees from unionizing.
"They're instilling fear into the technicians and the workers at Cablevision. They're trying to make them believe that if we form a union, we'll lose a lot of our rights," said a demonstrator.
"Cablevision is making it hard on them and we're saying enough is enough, respect the right of these workers to make their own democratic decisions," said Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
In a statement, a Cablevision spokesman said, "Our relationship with our employees is excellent, we believe CWA has nothing to offer them, but it's up to the employees."
The National Labor Relations Board will hold an election on January 26.
