New-York Historical Society Displays Copy Of 13th Amendment Signed By Lincoln

An artifact from the presidency of Abraham Lincoln has makes its way to Manhattan, just in time for Black History Month.

A rare handwritten copy of the 13th Amendment, signed by Lincoln himself, is on display at the New York Historical Society.

It is one of about 13 manuscripts signed by the president, in addition to the original.

The copy at one time belonged to Ulysses S. Grant's vice president.

The 13th Amendment to the Constitution abolished slavery 147 years ago.

The document will be on display through April 1.
