Police are investigating after a man's body was discovered Sunday night following a fire in a Manhattan subway station.

Police and firefighters answered a call of a fire inside an abandoned room at the Lexington Avenue/63rd Street station around 9 p.m.

After putting out the flames, firefighters discovered the unidentified man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim was badly burned and was known to be homeless.

Sources say he may have been using an appliance in the room.

The official cause has yet to be determined.
