The son of the founders of J&R Music and Computer World is opening a new, kid-oriented electronics store called J&R Junior.
A special pre-opening party was held in Downtown Manhattan on Sunday, before the official grand opening on Monday.
The store will sell toys, music, and electronics, all designed for children.
Owner Jason Friedman, who has a young daughter, said the idea came from his fascination with all the new baby gear on the market.
"Parents, especially new parents, are very overwhelmed by the huge amount of items there are. So we wanted this to be a hand-picked selection, but still very big, so that you feel like you're getting the best of the best of everything," said Friedman.
The store will carry gear created for infants to nine-year-olds.
