A health panel is soon expected to recommend more than 30 forms of cancer be covered by the Zadroga Act.
The advisory committee says data shows a variety of cancers, including blood, digestive, skin, oral and respiratory diseases, are definitively linked to dust at the World Trade Center after the September 11th attacks.
Cancer was not included in the Zadroga health care bill despite rampant calls from people who got sick breathing toxins at the site.
The administrator of the program had asked for more conclusive evidence.
If the government accepts the recommendations, cancer victims would be eligible to apply for a share of the 2 point 8 billion dollar compensation fund.
The panel will present its findings on April 2.
