Officials are investigating the cause of a small fire at One World Trade Center.

The fire happened around 7:15 a.m.

New York City Fire Department officials said the flames broke out on the 89th floor on some temporary wooden decking, but construction workers put out most the fire themselves.

Firefighters arrived on scene and helped wet down the area.

"It's not going to delay any of the construction processes on scene right now," said FDNY Chief Jim Esposito. "The fire marshals are working with the Port Authority folks up there to determine the exact cause."

Esposito said following the safety protocol for buildings under construction helped contain the fire.

The skyscraper is just a few hundred feet from reaching its full height.
