"Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts says she will receive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to fight a disease once known as preleukemia.

Roberts announced on Monday's show she was diagnosed with the condition.

She says she is fortunate her sister is an excellent bone marrow match, which greatly improves her chance to be cured.

"I'm like everyone who faces a life-altering situation, whether it's your health, your finances or what not. And it's getting up off the mat and fighting and that's exactly what I'm going to... and I want to be here," said Roberts. "I don't have to be here, I want to be here while I can."

Roberts battled breast cancer five years ago.

She says she contracted this new condition as a result of her cancer treatment.
