A teenager was arrested late Tuesday after police say he fired several shots into a group of people.

The New York City Police Department says the 17-year-old was walking along Madison Avenue near 113th Street around 11:15 p.m. when he pulled out a revolver and started shooting.

No one in the crowd was hurt.

Three officers chased the teen into the King Towers apartment complex where one of them opened fire.

The teen was not hit and officers arrested him at the scene.

Police recovered a gun at the scene.

Charges against the teen are pending and police say the initial shooting may have been gang-related.

The 27-year-old officer who opened fire was treated at St. Luke's Hospital for ringing in his ears.
