An out-of-this-world exhibit is now open to the public.

The Space Shuttle Pavilion made its debut Thursday on board the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum.

The prototype shuttle Enterprise is the centerpiece and main attraction, which is sponsored in part by NY1's parent company, Time Warner Cable.

Elevated 10 feet off the deck, visitors can get an up close and personal view of the orbiter from every angle.

"My son and I went to space camp to learn how to fly a shuttle," said one attendee. "Never quite got the opportunity, so seeing it here is wonderful."

"We really think of all the young people who will come through here and we hope they'll get excited about things like the shuttle, getting involved and learning about math and science," said Glenn Britt, the Time Warner Cable Chairman and CEO.

To celebrate its arrival, 40 interactive displays and exhibitions will be featured through Sunday.
