Manhattan Residents Aid Injured Pigeon

By: NY1 News

Residents at a Manhattan apartment building are lending a hand to a winged friend in need.

Manhattan Residents Aid Injured Pigeon
Doorman Steve Arena said he found an injured pigeon that couldn't fly hanging out in front of the Upper East Side building earlier this week.

Since then, residents have been taking care of the bird, bringing it food and water and shooing away other animals.

"I feel bad," Arena said. "Some of these other birds are like going at him and trying to attack him or whatever. I scare them away."

"I love the fact that he's a pigeon and lots of people don't like pigeons," said building resident David Toussaint. "They're birds. Like every other bird, we want him to be well."

Residents have not called anyone yet but NY1 reached out to animal control about the bird.
