Police shot and killed a man in Brooklyn Thursday night during an undercover sting.

The victim is 22-year-old Tyjuan Hill.

It happened around 10 p.m. near Huntington and Henry Streets in Carroll Gardens during what police called "Operation Losing Proposition."

"We had an undercover female officer out on the street," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. "She is approached in a car with four individuals in the car. She gets an offer. She signals that an arrest should be made and one of the individuals, when two police cars come in and sort of box them in, runs out of the auto."

Police chased Hill to Hamilton Avenue and West Ninth Street.

When they tried to arrest him, they say Hill pointed a 9mm gun at an officer.

The sergeant fired, hitting Hill in the head and killing him.

The three people in the car with Hill were taken into police custody.

One officer was taken to Lutheran Hospital with minor injuries.
