The Queens Midtown tunnel will reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday. After Sandy, it flooded completely and needed to be pumped out.

Some commuters said they are relieved that the tunnel will soon be fully operational.

"I'm glad that they did a tremendous job getting all the tunnels back, so its good that they are finishing that job," a man said. "I'm sure there's much more to do still."

The MTA said that on average, more than 78,000 cars drive through the tunnel everyday.

But not everyone is entirely thrilled about the news. Some have been enjoying the lack of traffic in the area.

"It's good that they're opening up, but it's going to probably cause more congestions," one commuter said. "So I don't know if that's going to be a help or not."

Truck restrictions remain in place for the tunnel until further notice, but some truck drivers said they still see the reopening as a good thing.

"I drive a truck, so the Midtown Tunnel really don't help me," one man said. "But I guess more ways for people to get in makes less traffic for me."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said there will be some breaks for light maintenance in the evening on Friday but, overall, traffic should run normally.
