A singer from Portland is closing out her tour in the city with a bid to lift the spirits of those battered by Sandy.
The singer "Storm Large" is encouraging her fans to bring donations for victims to her performances at Joe's Pub in NoHo.
Storm said she and her bandmates have a deep connection to the city and were shocked when they saw the damage.
"We just watched in awe as buildings in Chelsea were crumbling and the water was flowing up Houston," Large said. "And places we've frequented, businesses we've been to, and places we know our friends are living in the Financial District just filled with water. It's terrifying. You feel compelled to help, so that's what we wanted to do."
