The New York City Police Department is searching for a man who they say attempted to rape a woman at gunpoint in Harlem.

Police say the man approached the 22-year-old victim last Sunday near West 118th Street and Lenox Avenue at around 7 p.m.

He allegedly threw her to the ground and attempted to rape her.

A passerby intervened and the man ran off.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
