The city's annual "tree-cycling" program begins next Wednesday.
From January 2 to January 12, the New York City Department of Sanitation will pick up all Christmas trees left at the curb and grind them into compost.
Ornaments and lights should be removed, and they should not be put in plastic bags.
Then, on January 12 and 13, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation will hold its annual MulchFest, where New Yorkers can pick up free mulch.
