Police released a surveillance picture Monday of a man they said shot and critically wounded a livery cab driver in the Soundview section of the Bronx the previous day.

Authorities said the man got into a cab on the corner of White Plains Road and Lafayette Avenue in Soundview just after 5 p.m. Sunday

Once inside, he pulled a gun and asked for cash.

Police say he shot the driver repeatedly in the shoulder and ran out without getting any money.

The 55-year-old victim was taken to the hospital, and a taxi advocate said he was in critical condition on Monday.

Police described the suspect as being in his 20s, and was last seen wearing a tan jacket and a dark Abercrombie & Fitch hoodie.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
