Former Mayor Ed Koch was admitted into NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center Monday after complaining of shortness of breath and fluid on his lungs.

The 88-year-old was previously released from the same hospital on Saturday, following a week-long stay that stemmed from his having fluid in his ankles and lungs.

A spokesperson for Koch says the former mayor has been hospitalized four times since September.

By late Monday it was not known when he will be released.

The former mayor was advised to reduce his salt intake.

Koch was also admitted in December with a respiratory infection, and in September with anemia.
