Police shot a man in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn Tuesday night after they say he refused to drop a gun.

Authorities say a group of police officers in plain clothes headed to a home on Glenmore Avenue in Cypress Hills to investigate a tip claiming a man was living there illegally.

When officers arrived, the suspect allegedly left out the back door holding a gun.

Police say one of the officers ordered the man to drop the gun.

When the man allegedly refused, police say the officer shot the man in the torso.
