Costco is extending its plan to accept food stamps at its East Harlem location.
The wholesaler originally did not plan to include the store in their pilot program but rallies from community leaders and nutrition advocates helped change the company's policy.
City and state officials estimate more than 30,000 East Harlem residents receive food stamp benefits.
Food stamps will also be accepted at the store's Queens and Brooklyn locations.
Costco's store on 116th Street and FDR Drive is expected to open in November.
