Police say a man who was defecating between two subway cars accidentally fell and was run over by the train in a Harlem subway station Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the 31-year-old victim was run over at the 4/5/6 station at Lexington Avenue and East 125th Street shortly before 4:15 p.m.

A homeless man at the station fell onto the tracks and suffered a broken pelvis and injured buttocks as well, according to police.

Authorities say the injured man will survive.

Earlier, authorities falsely believed the incident may have stemmed from a fight in the station.

Service on the 4/5/6 line was temporarily suspended both ways.
