A young girl from Queens was killed Monday after the SUV she was riding in crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The accident happened shortly before noon in South Brunswick, N.J.
New Jersey State Police said eight-year-old Ayanah Paxton died after her mother lost control of the vehicle, which slid across the highway and hit a barrier before it overturned.
Pricilla Paxton, 48, and a 17-year-old passenger were hurt.
Police were investigating the cause late Monday.
