The Rangers might just be hoping for a Boston win Sunday night so they can rest some more before the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After they won their first-round series against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, New York waits for the winner of the Boston-Ottawa series.

If Boston wins Game 6 at home Sunday night, it'll force a Game 7 of its series back in Ottawa on Wednesday.

If that happens, the Rangers likely would not start their next series until at least Friday.

New York has played 92 playoff games over the last seven years, including the six they needed to advance past Montreal this year.

The Rangers advanced to the second round by beating the Canadiens, 3-1, Saturday.

The game at the Garden was tied halfway through the second period when Mats Zuccarello scored his second goal of the night, giving the Blueshirts the lead.

Derek Stepan was able to just fire a shot into the empty net in the final seconds of the game from the Rangers' zone, putting the dagger to the game and series.

Rangers' goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves as New York won the first-round series 4-2.
