Despite constant troubles on the subways, the MTA is reporting a recent drop in delays.

The agency says there were more than 57,000 subway delays in July.

It's more than 10,000 fewer than in May, but almost 6,000 more than in July of last year. And it's more than double what it was five years ago.

The agency says about 42 percent of the delays in July were caused by overcrowding.

There were also more than 19,000 delays on the weekends, but only 28 percent of those were due to overcrowding.

Meanwhile, it appears Select Bus Service is coming to the Q52 and Q53 routes along Woodhaven and Cross Bay boulevards this Fall.

The service is designed to increase bus speeds by allowing riders to pay in advance and enter any door.

The MTA has been fighting to bring SBS to the busy corridor for the last four years.

The routes serve nearly 30,000 riders a day.
