A 27-year-old man is facing charges in connection to a shooting that severely injured a 5-year-old boy who was celebrating his birthday.

Michael Quiles is accused of opening fire after an argument with two men back on June 5 in Morrisania.

The Bronx district attroney's office says one of the stray bullets hit Jaheem Hunter in the head.

Prosecutors say the boy suffered brain damage and is still recovering.

Quiles is facing attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment charges.

He is being held without bail and is due back in court in October.

If convicted, he could spend up to 25 years in prison.
