A Bronx woman who officials said killed a pregnant woman on her wedding day before cutting her infant from her body will serve 40 years to life behind bars, the Bronx district attorney said Wednesday.

Ashleigh Wade, 24, was convicted Oct. 5 of second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping.

In November of 2015, she slashed the throat of Angelikque Sutton, 22, who was eight months pregnant, officials said.

Prosecutors said Wade then cut the infant from Sutton's body and tried to pass it off as her own. The baby survived.

Wade had reconnected with her old childhood friend before she killed her, according to trial testimony.
