Things are looking brighter at the New-York Historical Society, where its vintage Tiffany lamp collection has a brand new home.

A $35 million transformation of the museum's fourth floor is now complete.

One of the centerpieces is a new custom designed two-story gallery to house the museum's collection of Tiffany lamps.

Some of them date back more than a century, and historians say they go hand in hand with a new permanent exhibit on women's history.

"Many of Mr Tiffany's lamps were designed by women, and in fact he employed an all-women design department, because he believed women were particularly good at designing nature-themed lamps," said New-York Historical Society President and CEO Louise Mirrer.

Other features on the fourth floor include a gallery showing the transformation of urban life over the years.
