School may be out for summer, but some kids are using their time-off to learn more about law enforcement.

The borough's 121st Precinct Summer Camp is now underway.

During the free program, children work closely with police officers as they take part in drills and exercises.

The initiative is meant to keep kids off the streets and out of trouble during the summer months.

It's also designed to inspire the next generation of law enforcement officers.

"They get the workouts, they get to see the drills we do, the exercises we do which all builds team work," said Sgt. Edward Leisengang.

"We do a lot of exercises which is really good to help us stay in shape we do lessons on to not do drugs which is also really good for us," said Mariners Harbor Resident Dylan Wolfe.

About 100 children are registered for the 6-week program.
