After being closed all summer for construction, renovations to the St. George Theater are now complete.

The more than three million dollar overhaul is meant to bring the theater back to its roots.

1,300 mezzanine seats and carpeting throughout the level has been refurbished to their original 1929 look.

New electrical work as well as lobby upgrades were also a part of the renovations.

Staff at the theater said it is a big step towards fully refurbishing the space.

"When we took over in 2004, we knew we had a lot of work in store, we knew Rome wasn't built in a day, and we knew we wouldn't be able to restore this theater overnight, and it is so surreal," said president and CEO Doreen Cugno. "It is happening in phases, but every year we make a quantum leap in improvements and the patrons appreciate it."

The theater is wasting no time getting back into the swing of things; a full slate of shows are scheduled for this week.
